Mixed-Use Building in First Avenue Seattle
Sustainable design is encouraged in this 1900 First Avenue Hotel and Apartments. A diverse set of sustainable solutions are utilized in this mixed-use building including green roofs, PV panels, rainwater harvesting, day-lighting and natural ventilation as well as minimizing energy usage. Exactly, this high rise building located at First Avenue and Stewart Street in downtown Seattle and it will be a respond to the built urban context and become a landmark of the city. Oska architects have designed this hotel and apartment building enhancing the pedestrian oriented through its courtyard and alley space.
Millenium Bridge in London Design
This bridge was designed for pedestrians to across the Thames River and it has created a new way to Southwark and encouraged new life on the embankment alongside St Pauls. This stunning bridge design has 320 meters long and it is a very shallow suspension bridge with two Y-shaped armatures. Those bases support eight cables that run along the sides of the 4-meter-wide deck, while steel transverse arms clamp onto the cables at 8-meter intervals to support the deck itself. This Millennium Bridge was born from the collaboration of engineering, art and architecture which is beautifully designed byFoster&Partners.
